Yasin Bhanji, M.D.

Dr. Bhanji is a fellowship-trained urologic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive, endoscopic, and robotic surgery. Raised in Los Angeles and inspired by his NASA scientist father, he pursued his undergraduate education in Economics at the University of Chicago. Then he went on to medical school at Northwestern University.

Dr. Bhanji completed his internship in general surgery and residency in urological surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he received numerous awards for clinical excellence.

During his research fellowship at Hopkins, Dr. Bhanji was awarded support from the National Institutes of Health for his investigations in advanced imaging techniques in men with prostate cancer. He published over 30 journal articles, textbook chapters, and presentations throughout his residency including numerous journal articles and book chapters on prostate cancer and robotic surgery. He then pursued advanced fellowship training at UCLA, where he honed his skills in cutting-edge, minimally invasive techniques for complex kidney stones and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Dr. Bhanji has significant experience in treating urologic cancers, with a particular interest in prostate cancer. He also has an interest in general urologic conditions including kidney stones, benign prostatic enlargement, voiding dysfunction, and erectile dysfunction. At UCLA, Dr. Bhanji received advanced training in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a no-incision technique that offers lasting relief from the symptoms of BPH with a quicker recovery than more traditional techniques.

Outside of work, Dr. Bhanji enjoys spending time with his family, biking, swimming, and skiing. He has strong ties to Atlanta and is excited to bring his expertise to Georgia Urology, building long-term, compassionate relationships with patients with urologic conditions.
