Dr. Mellis graduated with Highest Honors from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his Doctor of Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then completed his Surgical Internship and Urology Residency at the University of Oklahoma. He also completed his Fellowship in Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery under the direction of the distinguished Uro-oncologist, Dr. Michael S. Cookson.

Dr. Mellis has staff privileges at Northside Forsyth and is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He is also a member of the Georgia Urologic Society and American Urology Association. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a designation showing commitment to high-quality surgical care, ethical conduct, and ongoing education. Dr. Mellis has also been recognized by his peers as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor.
Originally from New Orleans, Dr. Mellis, who is fluent in Greek, lives in Atlanta with his wife and two sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and trying to catch as many Atlanta United games as possible.
