  • It is extremely important that you take your antibiotics as instructed by your doctor.
  • Increase your fluid intake for the next 1-2 days to decrease the formation of blood clots in your urine.
  • If you experience discomfort in the rectum or base of your penis you may take Tylenol. Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatories since these may increase the risk of bleeding.
  • You may notice blood in your semen, urine, or stool. This is normal and may last for up to a month. There is no need to call.
  • Limit your activities, particularly strenuous ones, for the next 24 hours.
  • If you take an aspirin or anti-inflammatory every day, you may start taking it in 3 days, assuming there is no more blood in your urine or stool. If you take a prescription blood thinner, you may start taking it again at the direction of the prescribing physician. You can continue to take all of your other medications.
