July 6, 2016 (Atlanta) — Eleven physicians from Georgia Urology — the largest urology practice in the state and the Southeastern United States — were recently honored as Top Doctors in metro Atlanta.
Drs. Roosevelt Allen Jr., Carl C. Capelouto, Allen Futral, III, Lawrence M. Goldstone, Mark A. Haber, J. Andrew Kirsch, A. Keith Levinson, Scott D. Miller, Hal C. Scherz, Fred S. Shessel and Barry M. Zisholtz received the honor from Atlanta magazine in its July issue. Physicians from the practice represented nine of the 20 (45 percent) in the publication’s urology specialty list. Additionally, two Georgia Urology physicians, Drs. Miller and Kirsch, carry the distinction as National Top Doctors from the established healthcare research firm Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. According to Castle Connolly, the distinction “aim(s) to identify the top 1 percent of specialists and sub-specialists” in the United States.
For its annual Top Doctors issue, Atlanta magazine uses a database compiled by Castle Connolly to assist in its efforts. This year, the publication honored 623 physicians. Doctors are nominated for consideration through both a nationwide survey and a peer nomination process open to licensed physicians in Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry and Rockdale counties. Castle Connolly’s physician-led team of researchers then select the Top Doctors through a rigorous screening process that includes an evaluation of educational and professional experience.
Dr. Haber, Georgia Urology’s managing partner, said receiving the award is a great honor.
